Jehovahnissi

Exodus 17:12,15 - "But Moses hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun....And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi."

I am reading a new book titled My Heart Restored by June Kimmel.  In chapter 2 she points out various ways our hearts can be restored.  One way is through friends who can step alongside and help us be obedient to God's commands for our lives.  We can see this example with Moses and how when he held his arms up, Israel would overcome the soldiers of Amalek but when his arms got too heavy and started to fall, Amalek would have the advantage.   Aaron and Hur saw the need of a friend and each stepped alongside Moses and help his arms up for him. "God used faithful these friends to give Moses the victory over the physical fatigue....When life brings weariness, God provides His gracious strength.  Sometimes He sends aid through dear Christian friends who encourage us as we minister to others." (pg 13-14)  Ultimately, God is our Jehovahnissi, our banner of victory, but it is amazing to me how He can use our good friends to help us achieve our victory. 

Thank you, my dear friends, for helping me along the way.  To walk in obedience is not always easy but certainly helps to know you are there to "hold up my arms" when I am too weary to continue. 

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
