I am one who thrives on a journal/blog approach to life. This blog will become my journal and help keep me focused on why I want to lose half of me. I truly believe God does not want to be fat forever and even though I have lost many pounds over the years only to put them back on, I want this time to be different. This isn't about me anymore. It is about my relationship with Christ and letting him work in and through me. I want to be disciplined to obedience. I am currently reading a book entitled Discipline: The Glad Surrender by Elisabeth Elliot. In the first few chapters she writes about obedience and how it coincides with a disciplined life. "Certainty comes with obedience....The first baby step of faith is followed by a daily walk of obedience, and it is as we continue in Him in His Word that we are assured that we were, in fact, called and have nothing to fear." It is amazing to me how discipline truly is very freeing...it is a glad surrender and not something that we should run from. I will be honest. I am scared to be taking this journey yet again. I have failed so many times. I have literally lost hundreds of pounds over my lifetime only to put them back on. I want to learn to live a disciplined life in Christ and become the woman God intended me to be. One that has the strength to do tasks that I presently cannot do. One that turns to God and not to food for comfort during battles on the inside as well as on the outside. I am hoping to be an inspiration to you as I take this journey once again. I also look forward to your encouragement as we walk along together via this blog.
Because He lives...

Take My Hand, Precious Lord
by Thomas A. Dorsey
Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home
When my way grows drear
Precious Lord linger near
When my life is almost gone
Hear my cry, hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home
When the darkness appears
And the night draws near
And the day is past and gone
At the river I stand
Guide my feet, hold my hand
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home
Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I'm tired, I'm weak, I'm lone
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

I will be following your journey and will be thinking about you and praying for you. I know it will not be easy, but you CAN do it. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you! One baby step at a time, just one foot in front of the other and before you know it you will have reached that first goal!
GREAT! You have all my support & prayer! Just insist the whole house be on the journey with you. They can grow, and pray, and eat as you do! Healthy physically & spiritually!
This is a good thing that you are doing, Ruth. I'd like to lose weight, too, and I'm hoping your blog will encourage me. Keep looking up! God is for you!
