I love working out again however I had a scare a couple days ago. I did the most intense workout in my life this past Wednesday and afterwards I got real shaky, cold sweat, felt like I was going to pass out. I rested for about 5 minutes in the locker room and drank water before taking a shower and heading out. I seemed OK until about an hour later when I was waiting for Maddie to get her hair cut. She notices I wasn't looking good and grabbed a soda and after drinking that I felt fine. I am sure my blood sugar bottomed out...something I have never had before. To test this theory, I went slower Thursday at the gym. But let me back up first. Earlier in the day I borrowed one of my mom extra diabetes glucose meters, changing out the lancet of course, and after eating a full lunch with my folks on an out of town, my blood sugar was at 100, which is normal for an empty stomach. When we got back in town, I headed to the gym. After exercising it had dropped to 88 and I hadn't worked out nearly as intense as the day before. My blood sugar is definitely something I am going to need to be careful about I think. I know now to take juice with me for after a work out. I have NEVER worked out this intense before so this is whole new territory for me. I am going to monitor this for a while and record a journal of blood sugar checks and then discuss with my doctor. I am hoping that drinking juice after my work outs will help.
All that being said, this week has brought about even more progress. My average daily step total is nearing 10,000 steps at 9,976 as of this morning. My low back and leg pain that I have when walking or standing too long is back down to a dull roar instead of screaming at me every time I walk more than a few steps. I have more energy. The list could go on, but you get the idea. God never intended for us to be inactive and I am thankful for the strength and progress He is providing me with.
Now for my weekly weigh in. I am down another 1.4 lbs for a total of 27 lbs. lost. Big grin and a "Thank you God!" today.
