Wow! It has been a long time since I last posted. A short update on diet. It stopped. I plan on getting back to business once life settles in but the past few months have been dedicated to my folks with several surgeries between the two of them. It was too much to keep up with recording food, etc... I have not given up, mind you. It is just on hold for now.
Now to the real post.
I have felt so blessed with a new found friend over the past year. She is a lot like the best friend I have had since 3rd grade. Some of you know my childhood friend, Jill, but because of distance, we cannot get together very often. When we moved here, I also had to say goodbye a good friend in the Quad Cities, which was hard and from that time on, I had been praying for God to bless me with a friend who would understand my humor (that is VERY important...I love humor), love to serve others as much as I do, want to know Christ on a personal level so that we could encourage one another in grace, and just let me be me. I was also praying for a friend who wouldn't constantly try to "one up" me when good things happen or when hard things happen but would rather just listen and encourage because that is what I strive to do within the bounds of friendship (we all know the type...LOL) While God had blessed me with friends since moving here, some of which made choices I didn't agree with and they moved on, I still longed for a friend like Jill. About a year ago, someone began reaching out to me and I wanted to let go and just enjoy this friendship but because I had been hurt recently by someone I thought was a good friend, I was very hesitant and kept my guard up. I kept praying that God would show me that I could indeed let go and be blessed. He has indeed showed me that this friendship is part of His plan for life. I am sure you have heard me mention several times on facebook my friend Kathy. She has been with me through some very hard parenting times as well as many fun times and I know that God is going to do some awesome things through this friendship as we seek to do Bible study together in the near future and we plan to exercise together once she recovers from an upcoming shoulder surgery. I can't help but think of the following verses as I think about the blessing of friendship:
Micah 6:8 "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of
you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with
your God?" As I was praying for a friend, I knew I had to keep on keeping on doing exactly what this verse says. God has blessed because of that.
Proverbs 27:17 "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend." Kathy and I share the same desire to grow in grace and know our Lord on a more personal level as well as we both know we need to be more physically active and better at eating more healthy to be all that God wants of us.
Anyways, this blog post was from my heart and I want to encourage you to let God lead you to the friendships that are right for you. He knows your heart.
