Then Samuel took a stone...calling the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us. 1 Samuel 7:12

If I keep my mouth shut, food can't get in!

What is the worst part of every doctors visit?  THE DREADED SCALE!  (queue the spooky music in the background) This used to be so true for me.  I would much rather prefer blood tests than to step on that scale for the nurse to record what it reads.  I say used to be true of me because now I look forward to them.  Yes, the numbers are still higher than they should be BUT the numbers are also showing the results of the effectiveness of the life changes I have made.

Our bodies were designed to carry a specific amount of weight.  Our joints and muscles that enable us to move and function were designed by our creator to get us through our life effectively.  However, as I have realized firsthand, obesity threatens not only our joints and muscles, but our entire way of life and yes, even our lifespan.  Too many times I would ignore the signs that I needed to do something about my health and I avoided the true reality that I needed to make changes.  Drastic changes.  The same is true with our Christian walk.  We often avoid the people who would be honest with us because we want to maintain a cozy existence.  God wants nothing more for us than the live our lives by His scale.  In other words, His Truth.  Sadly we tend to carry several types of measures in our life bags.  We have one scale to view our personal lives with.  We have another scale that we use to judge others actions.  We also at times use a 3rd scale to justify our decisions that may not be what God would have us to decid.  God's word says that we are to measure our lives by what is "true and honest."  God promises we will prosper if we choose Truth as our measure, just like our bodies will last the lifetime designated by God if we are walking obediently in what we choose to eat and choose to exercise.  His plan is perfect when we choose God's measurement instead of our various measures.

I am learning just as much, if not more, of how I need to manage my Spiritual health, not just my physical health.

Deuteronomy 25:13-16
"You shall not have in your bag two kinds of weights, a large and a small.  You shall not have in your house two kinds of measures, a large and a small.  A full and fair weight you shall have, a full and fair measure you shall have, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.  For all who do such things, all who act dishonestly, are an abomination to the LORD your God."

Praying request:  That my heel pain in my left heel would improve.  I am scheduled for a cortisone shot June 22nd if it continues to swell and be painful.

***PRAISE***
I just wanted to update that I had blood work done a week ago and my total cholesterol has dropped 20 points from a year ago.  My LDL (bad cholesterol) has dropped 28 points and my HDL (good cholesterol) has remained the same and is still 4 points from being within normal range.  I am hoping that in 6 months the HDL will show signs of improvement as I continue to exercise and eat more healthy.  I am not the person I was 9 months ago.  I am counting it all joy!
