The past week as been one full of the riches of God's supply. I will start with today's overwhelming provisions. The story actually started about a month ago when a friend of mine from college contacted me because she too is losing weight and wanted to give me her clothes that were now too big for her. She knew that my folks take trips to Greenville, SC to visit my brother and his family and wanted to know the next time they would be headed there as she lives close to route my folks take through Indiana on the way Greenville. Because God works all things for our good and His glory, the clothes she wanted to recycle to me were both the size I am presently in and the next size down for me. My folks were able to hook up with her yesterday afternoon on their way back from South Carolina. My wardrobe has been...ummmm....interesting, for lack of a better word. I have had to strategically plan laundry to make sure my tops match my bottoms. TEE HEE This afternoon I ran out to the folks and collected the bags and boxes. Oh. My. Goodness! I was not expecting that much stuff! To give you an idea, I took a count of it all. There are 61 items varying from tops, sweaters, sweatshirts, jeans, pants, shorts (which I haven't worn in 9 years but now that I am getting less bulky, I might consider them again), skirts, and a pair of very fun bib overalls. A third of the items fit me right now and the rest should fit in the near future if the Lord continues to bless in the weight loss department. God knew my need for clothes, the lack of budget, and took great care to orchestrate this whole scenario. So many times I have seen this happen in my life as I have sought to glorify and be faithful to Him in all my choices.
Another provision need was met this past week as well and if you read my Facebook posts, then you already know about it but if you don't, don't fret. I am posting it here too. There was great rejoicing here on Monday when we learned the Lord was providing us a way to pay for a new roof. It is
only by His mercy that the south side of our roof isn't leaking yet.
Our roof was actually only 3 years old when we purchased the place
almost 4 years ago but the shingles were actually recalled...the company
who manufactured them went bankrupt 2 years ago so no warranties are
being honored (our neighbor behind us knows the contractor
who put the roof on and we were able to contact him to get that
information). We began praying last summer for God to make a way to pay
for a new roof and about 6 months ago we learned that the city was
offering grants for home improvements who were within the income
guidelines and lived in a specific part of the city. The only
stipulation is that we have to remain in this home for 5 years or pay
back 20% of the cost for every year we do not live here. We applied.
Today we signed the paperwork and work will be completed within the next
90 days. We also learned that all homes approved would be updated to
meet city codes so a few more improvements will be made to our home as a
part of this grant. Isn't God amazing in the way He provides when we
ask and trust Him to do so? God rewards faithfulness. It isn't always
easy to have only one income but we know we are following His lead for
our family with me staying home to homeschool our children and trusting
him to meet our needs. To God be the glory for His unspeakable gifts.
Also on our prayer list is a "new to us" vehicle. Both of our vehicles have well over 100,000 miles on them and we have had to replace a lot on our minivan the past few years. We know that God is already there working on this and either He continue providing the funds to make the repairs or He will provide a better vehicle. No worries. God is already there.
